Great books for parents abound, but there is also a lot of bad advice out there.  Here are some of our favorite books from, crazy as it sounds, authors who make sense!

The Total Money Makeover

"The Total Money Makeover", by Dave Ramsey. Even if finance books typically make your head explode, try any of the books by Mr. Ramsey. He sets out a simple method for getting out of debt and saving money.

Boys and Girls Learn Differently!

"Boys and Girls Learn Differently!" By Michael Gurian. Also by Michael Gurian: "A Fine Young Man", "The Wonder of Boys", and "The Good Son". If you are raising a boy, check out this author.

The Read Aloud Handbook

"The Read Aloud Handbook", by Jim Trelease. Great lists of books to read aloud to all children of all ages.

It’s All Too Much

"It’s All Too Much". An Easy Plan for Living a Richer Life with Less Stuff, by Peter Walsh. Got kids? Then you got stuff. This book will make even a packrat want to throw it all out.

Stop Dressing Your Six-Year-Old Like a Skank: and Other Words of Delicate Southern Wisdom

"Stop Dressing Your Six-Year-Old Like a Skank: and Other Words of Delicate Southern Wisdom", by Celia Rivenbark. Funny and irreverent, but can you really argue with advice to stop dressing your six-year-old like a skank? (And don’t try to tell us that shorts with “JUICY” on the backside aren’t skanky.)
